At the bottom of the world…..almost

The Catlins would have to be one of my favorite places……beautiful bush, amazing rugged coastlines, isolated, windswept and incredibly beautiful…..

Porpoise bay….named after a small dolphin that frequents this bay sometimes known as hectors dolphin. We didn’t have the pleasure of seeing them this trip.

Around the corner is Curio bay which is the remnants of a  very old petrefied rainforest…there are large beds of bull kelp and it is the home of the rare yellow eyed penguin. We were lucky to see them, but unfortunately it was too dark for photos.
