Mmmm…I did wonder about this one..below is an image of myself in the middle of a shower of ribbons…part of an art installation

And then I found this one….I really have no idea how this happened. ..

Both were taken with my phone…probably in a blur : ))
walls can be truly amazing for one reason or another……

a wall somewhere in Ubud Bali…

a glass wall…….Auckland nz

a hedge wall careys bay nz

a walled lizard….in a back street of dunedin
hope you enjoy.. i definitely had fun finding them : ))
There are many reasons to look for alternative ways to get somewhere….in Ubud its not just about avoiding the noise and the speed with which some people travel the crowded main roads. Its because you just never know what you will find down a back lane or a small gang (as they are known in Indonesia) or an even smaller path that really is only for foot traffic but seem to include the odd motorcycle as well…. it is a wonderland to explore …..and here is some of what I’ve found ovsr the last couple of days…..

This is in the middle of central Ubud….

On the side of a steep flight of stone stairs…

Sparkling in the afternoon sun…..

Along a narrow pathway….

In a back lane….

Along a small gang….

How creative is that!

I love this doorway…..it has looked the same, maybe a little more weathered each time I have passed it for years…….

And another of the beautiful tropical forest that continues to survive despite the intrusion of humans into the landscape.
While walking around the neighborhood where I am staying in Sinaraja Bali I realised that many of the houses had unique gates and walls around their kampung (yard). I found them interesting, attractive and utilitarian all at the same time….. sometimes I would be walking and realise that the view was beautiful…..
This was taken from the back of my house …you can see the mountains in the background.
This is looking the other way…..late afternoon.
Over the weekend I had the opportunity to photograph these beautiful pieces of ephemeral art sculpture dotted along the coastal walkway not far from where I live on the south coast of oz…..

A home by the sea created by chris murphy…….

Gastro skeletal created by greg hatcher……

Mystic spiral created by Megan O’hara…..

Hung out to dry created by stuart macmillan….

Steam punked puffer fish created by benjamin Young….

Posts wrapped in seagrass balls created by martin corbin and cindy southczabania
There is a part of me that feels like I am coming home when im in Ubud. I never seem to tire of seeing the beauty in things everyday …
Like the sawah
Gunung agung early morning from my balcony
Peaceful dove on the edge of my balcony….
Sculptures for sale down a small gang
A small ular wrested from the sawah (rice fields) in front of my eyes while walking in the rice padi…
In a small warung set amongst the padi…
